So beinhaltet schon der einleitende und grundlegende Beitrag ?Ephesos from Late Antiquity until the Middle Ages. An Archaeological Introduction? der Grabungsleiterin Sabine Ladstätter aktuellste Resultate, die hier erstmals publiziert werden. Gleiches gilt für alle anderen Beiträge, sei es ob sie sich mit dem Restaurierungsprojekt der türkischen Monumente in Ayasoluk, den Forschungen im Cömeterium der Sieben Schläfer, dem Gesundheitszustand der Bewohner des frühbyzantinischen Ephesos auseinandersetzen oder Straßen und Routen als Kommunikationswege in das ephesische Hinterland untersuchen. Ein mittelalterlicher Münzhortfund aus dem Artemision, der sich heute im British Museum befindet, bindet auch die numismatische Forschung ein.
